What is Animation ?

Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement. It is a type of illusion which involves appearance of motion by displaying still images one after another. Animation can be presented as Motion picture, Video picture, stop-motion animation and hand-drawn animation.

In Latin, ‘Anima’ means soul. Animation is all about giving soul to a character. It is about moving something which cannot move itself.

Computer Animation also widely known as CGI animation is the art of creating moving Images using Computer. 3D and 2D Computer Graphics can be created using the various Animation Softwares.

Computer Animation is a enhancement of stop motion animation of 3D motion and frame by frame models of 2D illustrations. The illusion of movement process is simple, a new image is repeated replaced after a specific time domain usually 24 or 30 frames/second. The pictures should be drawn at around 12 frames per second (frame/s) or faster, so that it looks real to our eyes and brain, which can detect jerkiness if the rate is below 12 frames.
